About Mystic Anatolians

I am a proud member of the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America and Anatolian Shepherd Dogs International, Inc. I am an Anatolian Shepherd Dogs International, Inc. Code of Ethics Breeder and abide by the ASDI, Inc. Code of Ethics.

Code of Ethics

We are a small family located along the beautiful Blue Mountains in Central Pennsylvania. Our family consists of me, my mom, multiple Anatolian Shepherd Dogs and multiple Nigerian Dwarf Goats. I have been raising Anatolian Shepherds for some time before deciding to take the leap and start my own breeding program. There was a lot of thought over the years put into making the final decision to breed these magnificent dogs. I have fallen so much in love with Anatolians and everything about them that I want to help carry on this breed by breeding healthy and sound dogs with proper temperaments, form and function while keeping their true working intincts.

We take pride in our dogs here at Mystic Anatolians. They are enjoying life! They love having a job to do. They were originally brought here to be my family companions and guardians but over time I wanted to expose them to livestock and let them do what they have been bred to do for thousands of years. I decided to add goats to our family and introduce the dogs to them. The older dogs have adapted very well to the goats and the younger ones were introduced to them as puppies. The dogs love having the goats to protect and doing what Anatolians were bred to do. The dogs here enjoy all aspects of life. They have times that they are inside and enjoying the family life but also are able to work and protect the livestock. They have constant access to the livestock. They have free roam to be where they want to be and can choose to be inside with me or outside with the herd. Having them enjoy family life along with being with the livestock has not affected their true guarding instincts over the herd at all. They are wonderful guardians to me, the home/property and the livestock. We have predators here such as coyotes, fox, large predator birds, bobcats and even bear. I am very proud to report that we have not had one predator attempt to come near the livestock with these dogs around. The dogs here at Mystic Anatolians are very well socialized and have been since they arrived here. They are able to be taken places with me and be taken out in public. They are taken through odedience classes and many of them have been tested and received their Canine Good Citizen certification from the AKC. A couple of them are also being shown in conformation shows with the AKC and UKC. Most importantly, these dogs are my family and my life.

How did I choose the kennel name Mystic Anatolians? Two definitions of Mystic are: 1. Inspiring a sense of mystery and wonder. 2. Inducing a feeling of awe or wonder. If you know this breed, that describes them perfectly. When I first saw an Anatolian Shepherd in person, I had that overwhelming feeling of awe and wonder. After owning and living with them all these years, I still get that feeling and also the sense of mystery. These dogs are nothing like any other breed that I've ever come across. They are so intelligent and magnetic. I often wonder about the mysteries of the breed and how they survived so long and stayed true for over 6,000 years. They are the most amazing dogs that I have ever had the pleasure to meet and own.

I am going to warn potential buyers right now that when you decide to purchase an Anatolian from me, you will not only be getting a dog but you will also be getting a human family member and friend. I plan to remain in regular contact with any person who receives an Anatolian from me and would like the buyer to do the same with me. That's one major thing I ask of anyone wanting to get a dog from us here at Mystic Anatolians. You may feel like you are signing away your life with our contract and application but it's only for the dog's best interest and to help ensure that the dog will be going to a proper home where it will be cared for and loved. We care about the dogs that we will be breeding and bringing into this world and only want the best for them. These dogs are not just dogs here at Mystic Anatolians, they are a part of my family and we expect all Anatolians that we have helped bring into this world and into your life to not be treated as just a dog but to be treated like a part of your family.

We will breed litters occasionally and have puppies and possibly some adults available from time to time. All puppies and dogs will be microchipped, come with health certification, a health guarantee, pedigree and additional information. All puppies will be born and raised inside of the house. The pups will be handled from the time they are born. They will be exposed to different sights, sounds, scents, surfaces, feels, etc. At around the age of 4-5 weeks old the pups will be taken outside and begin to be exposed to and introduced to livestock. While the pups are growing they will be started with some basic training, some housebreaking and some basic leash training. They will begin getting socialized and begin to start getting used to basic grooming and handling. The pups will have their first baths before going to their new homes. We will also be taking them for short rides in the vehicle so they are able to get used to the motion of vehicles and get adapted to riding in vehicles for trips to the vet or wherever else you decide to take your Anatolian. All Anatolians from Mystic Anatolians will come with full lifetime breeder support. We will be here to answer any questions, concerns, etc. that you may have regarding you Anatolian or even just be here to talk or share stories. If a time comes that you can no longer keep your Anatolian that you received from us, we will take it back at any point in it's life. Your Anatolian will be loved from the minute it is born and throughout it's lifetime by us and will always have a home here if ever needed.

We hope that you have taken your time to do your research and decide if this is the right breed for you before you decide to acquire one. It was the best decision I have ever made but they are not for everyone, so please take your time and make the right decision for you/your family/your lifestyle and most importantly the dog. If you would feel comfortable getting a dog from us, please read over the following information on this page and contact us.
